Mikhail Nyamweya holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations (Magna Cum Laude) and a minor in Development Studies from the United States International University - Africa, Nairobi, Kenya. His undergraduate dissertation involved examining the interface between state capture and the ‘deep state’ in Kenya, which emerged the best in his class. Mikhail is experienced in social science research and more recently, was involved in research on social media and misinformation in the 2022 Kenyan General Elections. Mikhail, a Kenyan national, is interested in Kenyan and African Politics, African Political Economy, the Politics of Bureaucracy, Governance, Democratization and African Development. At Oxford, his dissertation will be on exploring the implications of corruption and state capture on institutions of governance in Kenya from the year 1992 till present time. His hobbies include reading, writing and hiking.
