Micaella Rogers is a First Rand Scholar and holds an Honours degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Economics, Psychology, and Applied Statistics, both from the University of Cape Town. Her research and professional interests centre on the complexities of labour market dynamics in Africa. She is interested in topics spanning South-South migration, the Just Energy Transition, and the implications of emerging technologies, including generative AI, for vulnerable labour markets.
Prior to joining Oxford, Micaella worked as a sustainable impact consultant on projects including developing a jobs strategy for the Just Energy Transition in Mpumalanga, South Africa, a baseline assessment for the industrialisation of the township economy in South Africa, and many projects across the continent aimed at leveraging corporate capital to create positive socioeconomic impact.
