I recently graduated with a Bachelor (Honours) in History of Art from The Courtauld Institute of Art in London. Throughout my Bachelor degree, I have chosen to dedicate all my essays when it was possible on African art and I was an active member of the Decolonisation Action Group of the Courtauld. I had also several roles in charities involved in the refugee crisis. Having worked at the Giacometti Foundation and Paris’ Museum of Modern art as curator assistant, I am interested in challenging the mainstream conception of the “artistic Modernity”, especially in the African context. At Oxford, I wish to focus my dissertation on the Ecole des Beaux Art d’Abidjan. Studying Côte d'Ivoire's main training place for artists over the generations will help me to extract national artistic canons and to demonstrate artistic continuity within the country's art.
