Prior to joining Oxford, I graduated with a double major degree in English and Comparative Literature and History from the American University in Cairo (AUC). My favourite history courses were those that focused on Africa. I presented two of my research papers focused on Africa in the annual Excellence in Undergraduate Research, Entrepreneurship and Creative Achievement (EURECA) conference held at AUC. While in Egypt, I interned in the Museum of Islamic Arts and The National Council for Women.
After graduating a semester early, I worked as an Officer of International Cooperation in the Ministry of Social Solidarity. While at Oxford, I hope to study Egypt using Methodologies applied to other African countries in a post-colonial context. I am particularly interested in Public History. I hope to continue my studies in African History, as well as pursue a DPhil in the future.
