I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in History and Politics from the University of Warwick. During my undergraduate studies I completed research, including a summer programme at TU Dresden about the history of violence, regarding the impact of superpower interference within African politics and societies during the Cold War. I explored how this exacerbated the violence exhibited during freedom struggles whilst ensuring my research did not replicate pre-existing and erroneous Eurocentric historiographies. My dissertation explored President Kwame Nkrumah’s rise and fall in Ghana. Additionally, I undertook research regarding Kenya’s Mau Mau rebellion, and I hope to expand my understanding of this key event by exploring its significance on post-colonial Kenya under President Jomo Kenyatta.
