AfriSoc 60th Anniversary - Pan Africanism: Learning from the Past, Looking to the Future

The Oxford University Africa Society focuses on African affairs at the University of Oxford. It seeks to set the agenda for the future of the African Continent by providing a platform for students hailing from or interested in Africa to critically engage. Above all, it is a community of change agents passionate about Africa. For its 60th anniversary, the Africa Society will hold a half-day conference on the theme ‘ Pan Africanism, Learning from the Past, Looking to the Future ’. The conference will be in the InvestCorp Auditorium of St. Antony's College.

The invited speakers all have a connection to the Africa Society and have conducted important research related to Africa and engaged in Pan African activism. The keynote speaker, Prof. Kole Omotoso, will deliver the lecture 'Decline and Rise of Pan Africanism in the 21st Century'.

The event will be chaired by Ambassador Abena Busia, a scholar, poet and writer who has recently paused her academic position at Rutgers University to represent Ghana in Brazil.
