- Area Studies: ORISHA MSC
Open to graduate applications for the MSc African Studies.
- Oxford-Linacre African Graduate Scholarship
Open to applicants ordinarily resident in Sub-Saharan Africa, and who are eligible for Rhodes Scholarships. Tenable at Linacre College only. Please see website for more details.
- Area Studies: FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar Scholarship
Open to South African graduate applicants for the MSc African Studies. The African Studies Centre is delighted to announce the inaugural FirstRand Oxford African Studies Scholarship, a collaboration between the FirstRand Foundation, the African Studies Centre and Wadham College.
One fully funded scholarship, including tuition fees, is available per year.
Eligible applicants must be SOUTH AFRICAN citizens, must show the potential to rise to positions of leadership and influence, and must not have previously studied outside of South Africa for degree purposes.
Please note that applicants must apply both to Oxford for admission to the African Studies MSc AND SEPARATELY to the FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar Scholarship for Postgraduate International Study. In their Oxford applications, applicants should state WADHAM COLLEGE as their preferred college.

Open to applicants ordinarily resident in Africa, applying for the MSc African Studies. Please see website for more details.
- St Anne's College African Studies Award Ioma Evans-Pritchard Scholarship
Open to all applicants to the MSc in African Studies. Please see website for more details, including closing dates and how to apply.
- Oxford-Patrick Duncan Graduate Scholarship
- Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme (CSSS)
Open to applicants who are nationals of developing Commonwealth countries, and who are not be at present living or studying in a developed country or have not undertaken studies lasting one year or more in a developed country. Please see website for more details.
- Eni Scholarships
Open to applicants who are ordinarily resident in Angola, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, and the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville). Preference will be given to applicants whose first degree is from an African university. Please see St Antony's website for more details.
- Standard Bank Derek Cooper Africa Scholarship
Open to applicants who are applying for any full-time, one-year taught master's course within certain Divisions, including Social Sciences and Humanities, and who are ordinarily resident in one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, South Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia or Zimbabwe. Preference will be given to nationals of Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa and South Sudan. Please see the website for more details.
- Oxford-Linacre Eldred Scholarship
Open to applicants who are ordinarily resident in Africa (excluding South Africa). Students studying for an MSc degree in African Studies are automatically considered for this scholarship. No separate application to the College is needed. Please see the Linacre College website for more details.
